Is the Echo shell made from real carbon fiber?
The Echo uses a
composite carbon fiber
material — not 100% pure carbon fiber. Composite carbon fiber blends carbon fiber with a polymer resin matrix, which allows for more complex shell geometries, better impact resistance, and lower manufacturing cost compared to pure carbon fiber, while still delivering a lightweight, rigid structure with the distinctive carbon fiber aesthetic.
Akko is actively developing a pure carbon fiber version. As pure carbon fiber involves a more complex manufacturing process, it will be positioned at a higher price point when available.
The Echo weighs 55g — will a lighter version be released?
